Advice for Dick Smith card holders

South Western Times

Consumer Protection has advised Dick Smith gift card holders to contact the company’s administrator after it was revealed the cards would not be honoured and deposits would not be refunded.

It was announced early this week the electrical retailer was placed into voluntary administration and receivership.

Consumer Protection’s acting commissioner David Hillyard said gift card holders were now unsecured creditors and should contact administrator McGrath Nicol.

Customers who paid for gift cards via credit or debit cards should contact their card provider to request a chargeback, he said, while those who had paid deposits or paid for items still to be delivered should contact the store.

He also said customers with extended warranties or faulty products should contact the administrator.

McGrath Nicol can be contacted via a hotline on 1300 853 481 or by emailing dicksmith@linkmarketservices.com.au.
