For Bunbury Farmers Market, being awarded at a State level is a credit to everyone involved.

From the farmer planting a seed to a customer walking out with the produce, the team at Bunbury Farmers Market is grateful to everyone who helped the business win the WA Fresh Produce Retailer of the Year Award for regional stores.

Director Kevin Opferkuch said Bunbury Farmers Market was one of four finalists in the award.

He said it was a surprise to be nominated because the business did not nominate itself.

“The awards are run by the Market Authority and involves mystery shoppers,” he said.

“We got a hint when we kept getting asked to go to the annual ball.”

Farmers Market general manager Leith Johnston said the growers helped win the award.

“We have the best growers in the world here in the South West, so it’s their award too,” he said.

“This award also goes to our staff who make our displays, and the customers who always return.”
