Offering a wide range of services to a big client base earnt Phillip Best Plumbing the South West Small Business Awards' 2015 Construction, Mining and Manufacturing title.

Owner Phillip Best has won many accolades since the business was established in 1986 but said winning his first South West Small Business Awards prize was a momentous occasion.

"Winning the award has been good recognition of the systems we have in place," Mr Best said.

"We were up against a lot of businesses that weren't just in the plumbing and gas industry so it was great to get recognised."

Mr Best attributed his broad client base to his success as well as his firm's continued existence.

"It is a very large and competitive market," he said.

"Being able to cater for many different clients is a contributing factor to our business survival."

The firm's business manager, Mr Best's wife Julie, said the awards' nomination process was a great opportunity to evaluate their business processes.

"It made us look and assess our own business to make sure we aligned with the judging criteria to win the award," Mrs Best said.

"Winning has also been important for our big clients to see that we are compliant and progressive.

"The Small Business Centre does a great job and the awards are a good way to align your business path."

Knowing clients are satisfied with their work is a driving motivation for Mr and Mrs Best.

"Happy customers are definitely what I enjoy most about this business - there is no other reason," Mr Best said.

"I wouldn't work seven days a week if I didn't have happy customers."

"Happy customers are definitely what I enjoy most about this business"
