Bright times ahead for salon

With a fresh location and new financial year, an award heralded a new beginning for a Bunbury hair and beauty salon.

Top Cut Hair Beauty and Brow has traded in Bunbury for more than eight years and has just earned its first South West Small Business Award, winning the 2013 Small Business Centre Achiever Award.

Owner Jaimee Cormack said the award was a feather in the cap for the business and had left her on cloud nine since the win.

Top Cut Hair Beauty and Brow has been at a new location since July 1 and the Achiever Award has provided a good omen.

“There’s been highs and lows over the years but this has made all the hard work pay off,” Miss Cormack said.

“It’s nice to be recognised for the highs we’ve reached in our time.”

Miss Cormack and her team prepared their South West Small Business Awards submission while they were moving to their new premises on Beach Road.

“The submission process was intense, we worked on it day and night,” Miss Cormack said.

“We were meticulous and wanted to make sure we sounded like us in the submission.

“There were a lot of questions that asked the same thing in a different manner.”

Miss Cormack said she thought passion and unique aspects of the business had given her the winning edge.

“I have a great team and there’s so much heart, there’s a lot I love in my business,” she said.

Miss Cormack said she hoped to keep achieving her goals and expanding the team and salon.

“I have six people on the team and I want to add to that and get more stylists,” she said.

“I want to enjoy the journey though, I don’t want my focus to be on the end result.”

This year was the first time Miss Cormack entered her business in the South West Small Business Awards and she said she planned to enter again next year.

“It’s a good way to assess where the business is at,” she said.
