Bunbury lawyers join forces
TWO Bunbury law firms have joined forces to provide broader resources and deliver better service to the region.
Established in 1995, Joe Scurria and Associates always had a strong regional focus and last week merged with West Australian law firm Avon Legal.
Joe Scurria and Avon Legal lawyer Tony Fifield have had a working relationship for the past three years.
Mr Fifield said the Bunbury Avon branch was supported by the head office in Midland and saw the merger as an opportunity to use Mr Scurria's local knowledge to grow the firm.
Mr Scurria said the firms' combined resources would focus on a wide spectrum of legal areas from family to commercial law.
"We had a realisation since Christmas that merging was a possibility which could grow the firm," Mr Scurria said.
"We are taking a new focus on family law, wills and estates and commercial and property law."
The firm will operate under the banner of Avon Legal and can take on work with any size business entity, Mr Fifield said.
The office on Victoria Street is undergoing renovations to cater for the firm's merger, which will see a total of seven staff based in Bunbury.
"We have a strong collegiate atmosphere and there are more than 16 lawyers across the firms from Perth, Bunbury and Karratha," Mr Fifield said.
"We are the largest firm focusing on and servicing regional WA."
