Collie miner to cut costs
Griffin Coal will cut operation costs in a bid to secure the Collie mine’s long term future after months of uncertainty and financial turmoil.
The statement comes after it cut ties with Waroona-based contracting company Carna Civil and Mining earlier this month after what is believed to be a financial dispute between the two companies.A spokesman for Griffin Coal also revealed the company would seek an increase in price for its domestic coal in an attempt to cover operating costs and sustaining capital requirements.
A Griffin Coal spokesman said it was essential both these components were addressed in order for the business to become viable long term.
