Sarah takes key role

Managing any business is hard, but Bunbury Eagle Boys manager Sarah Henke has done her apprenticeship in the business and deserves to lead her team.

Miss Henke started at the company last year as a delivery driver, and the soon to be 24-year-old has seen hard times with the store closing and reopening in her short tenure.

Upon its reopening Miss Henke was offered the job of manager and now leads her small team with a mixture of enthusiasm and patience.

Miss Henke said she started her manager career by organising some shifts before the store closed.

“Dealing with customers is a challenge, I am still getting used to it. Especially dealing with complaints, ” she said.

“I am not used to being the authority figure, it’s weird telling people what to do.

“My biggest challenge is making sure everything runs smoothly and getting the customers’ orders on time.”

Miss Henke hopes the experience of managing Eagle Boys will help her in the future once she completes her studies in horticulture.

Eagle Boys chief executive officer Bruce Scott said there was the opportunity for everyone to succeed in their careers and be the driver of their individual outcomes, especially in the Eagle Boys network.

“When times are tough for our youth to find steady jobs and achieve individual career fulfilment, it reinforces the value in Sarah’s story to others, to keep focused and their eye on the longer term goals, ” he said.
