A desire to support ethical industries has led to a clothing label being stocked at an unlikely Bunbury location.

Victoria Street ice cream store The Creamery's range now includes Patagonia brand clothing after owner Simon Rainey decided to branch out.

The store is already involved with the Responsible Cafes program, which gives customers a discount for bringing in reusable cups.

"I thought it would be nice to go down the Fairtrade route and got in touch with Patagonia," he said.

"They became a mainstay of the clothing side. It is owned by one guy and they are the first big company to use 100 per cent recycled cotton."

Mr Rainey is also researching innovations such as edible spoons after becoming frustrated with the amount of waste generated.

He said the public's reaction to their clothing shift had been "very good".

"It's the sort of things people are surprised and shocked are there but even people who aren't buying them will have a look while the kids are having ice cream," he said.

Mr Rainey said his store also had restrictions on the number of seats they were allowed and this expansion allowed them to make use of extra space.
