Lauper’s Farewell World Tour kicks off this Friday in Montreal and fans will see her perform across the US and UK before making her way Down Under.

Earlier this year, a feature-length documentary film called Let the Canary Sing was released and showcased Lauper’s extraordinary life and career.

A companion album of the same name was also released and consists of a career-spanning collection of songs available on vinyl and as a digitally expanded edition.

The Brooklyn native has been nominated for 15 Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, seven American Video Awards, and 18 MTV Awards.

Her global record sales are more than 50 million.

Her success never waned, Lauper was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015 and awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame the following year.

Away from music, Lauper is a huge activist for women, people living with HIV/AIDS, and the queer community.

Her commitment runs so deep that she co-founded True Colors United in 2008 in a bid to reduce homelessness among LGBTQI+ youth.

In 2022, in response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Lauper launched the Girls Just Want To Have Fundamental Rights Fund, which was formed to financially support women’s issues inclusively.

The donor-advised fund housed at the Tides Foundation will provide grants to organisations that advance women’s rights and health.

A Telstra Plus member pre-sale runs from 12pm local time on Friday to 12pm October 22.
