Pixar Putt miniature golf opens in Perth CBD next to RAC Arena for school holidays
The school holidays are just hours away but the parents of Perth needn’t worry about being stuck for ideas over the next fortnight, with one of the hottest tickets in town opening today in the CBD.
Making its WA debut, Pixar Putt is an 18-hole miniature golf park inspired by Pixar’s most iconic films including Toy Story, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo and Coco.
It’s the first time the attraction has come to Perth following hugely popular instalments in the Eastern States where more than 60,000 people picked up a golf club as the likes of Buzz Lightyear and an Omnidroid looked on.
Survivor star Luke Toki and siblings Summer and Levi Young got an exclusive sneak peek today as the finishing touches were being put on the course, which is set up the RAC Arena Plaza until November 3.
Father-of-three Toki said despite spending months on a Fijian island filming the smash-hit reality series he is most looking forward to getting out and enjoying the great outdoors these school holidays.
“We’re definitely looking to try and get outside a bit more in the school holidays,” he said.
“That’s why I’ve come down and thought I could help promote this because I feel like a nice afternoon playing mini golf with the family in the school holidays would be a nice thing to do.
“It is a bit of a throwback but it’s simple and it’s easy and it’s fun, and I just think we’re getting a bit of our weather back and I’m really looking forward to bringing my kids down here.”
And while he admits these school holidays might be a bit different given his newfound celebrity status, he does have some go-tos that he and wife Mary fall back on when it comes to avoiding boredom for kids Lennox, eight, Nate, five, and baby Madeline.
“I just hit the beach and the park,” he said. “You’ve got to just get out, get outside with your kids these school holidays — get them away from technology.”
Eight-year-old Summer and five-year-old Levi also rated Pixar Putt a hole-in-one following their exclusive road test.
“It was really cool and I’m really excited to try it with all my friends now,” Summer said. “Just from playing it, it looks really cool.”
