A girlfriends’ night out has helped two sisters bring smiles to the faces of children at Bunbury Hospital.

Radio Lollipop director Sandra Ursino and her sister Erin Jackson donated activity books, pencils and games to the hospital on Friday.

The sisters bought the gifts with proceeds from a fundraiser called Girlfriends Night Out to Celebrate Friendship, organised by Mrs Jackson and Kirbee Neilsen.

Three hundred people attended the fundraiser at Sanctuary Golf Resort in May last year, generating $21,000 for Radio Lollipop.

Mrs Jackson said she was inspired by her sister’s 15 years of volunteering with Radio Lollipop, for which she received a Medal of the Order of Australia.

“We gave some money to Fiona Stanley Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital for Children but we wanted to help out at the Bunbury Hospital,” she said.

“It was the first time we were able to deliver the activity books and other items but we are hoping to do it regularly.”

Mrs Jackson said she would be holding another fundraising event in May at the Lord Forrest Hotel.

“There will be 400 people attending this year and the tickets sold out in just 30 minutes,” she said.

“We are hoping to hold the fundraiser every year and we are still looking for more prizes and donations.”
