BSBL men’s: Bulls Maroon and Tornadoes Black grab big wins, Aces Sky defeat Conquerors

Bulls Maroon produced the most impressive performance of round 10 in the Bunbury Senior Basketball League men’s A-grade competition at South West Sports Centre on Friday night, beating Aces White by 54 points.

The third-placed reigning premiers shored up their spot inside the top five with a fourth win in a row, showing some defensive grit to go with their trademark offensive flair in a 120-66 result.

Maroon opened up a 22-point lead at the first break which only grew larger across the rest of the contest, expanding to 32 points at half-time and 43 points at the final interval.

Travis Durnin scored 31 points to lead a balanced offensive display which saw six of their eight players finish with double-digit points totals, while Trent Faulkner (21 points) was most prominent for White.

Second-placed Tornadoes Black also had a big win, smashing Eaton Eagles by 72 points.

A mismatch between one of the competition’s contenders and a side without a win for the year played out largely as expected, with Black winning 138-66.

Black shared the offensive load in trademark fashion, with five of their players scoring 19 points or more, including Callum Heap (26 points), Luc Perkins (25) and Tyrell Mckenzie-Roe (22).

The Eagles remain rooted to the bottom of the ladder with an average losing margin of 70.1 points this season.

Aces Sky held off Conquerors to win by 12 points in the closest result of the round.

Sixth-placed Sky currently sit outside the finals places on percentage but kept in touch with the competition’s leading sides with a 106-94 victory.

The competition’s leading scorer Nathan Walsh was unstoppable again for the winners with 45 points, with Conquerors led in scoring by Xavier Mills (28).

The clash between ladder leaders Bulls Gold and Bulls Grey was rescheduled for later in the season.
