Salvation Army ministry assistant Katrina Williams said she witnessed some tears and shock after the recent extreme weather events along with trauma in the community.

“It’s nice to see all the smiles today. I’ve seen a lot of tears and shock and it’s great to see people come together,” she said.

“We’ve been helping people through their fear of more possible unpredictable weather and storms.”

Lions Club region chair Michael MacPherson said 75 hampers were provided for those in need, as well as free entertainment, train rides for the kids and a sausage sizzle.

“We’re calling it a community day so the community has somewhere to come and relax,” he said.
