Child in a pram and man killed in accident at Carlton train station in Sydney
A two-year-old boy in a pram and a man have been killed after they were struck by a train at a suburban train station.
The horror incident occurred when the pram – carrying two toddlers – rolled onto the tracks at Carlton train station in Sydney’s south about 12.125pm on Sunday.
“A second two-year-old boy and a 39-year-old woman were not injured, and are being assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“Officers attached to St George Police Area Command have established a crime scene.
“The incident is not believed to be suspicious at this time.”
The public is urged to avoid the area.
The T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra Line has been closed between Wolli Creek and Hurstville.
Transport NSW said bus companies had been contacted to provide replacement services, but these buses are not yet on site.
Passengers are advised to delay their trip and make alternative arrangements.
