Collie Veterinary Services manager Nicholas Paley Edis faces string of child sex and indecent act charges

A Millbridge man has faced court over a string of alleged sexual offences spanning five years. Nicholas Paley Edis today appeared in Collie Magistrate’s Court facing 23 charges, including seven counts of sexually penetrating a child under 16 years of age. The charges were laid after an extensive investigation into alleged sexual abuse incidents led by Bunbury Detectives with the assistance of Collie Police. Between 2014 and 2019, police allege the 31-year-old — who has worked as the veterinary practice manager at Collie Veterinary Services — sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl and committed indecent acts in front of three women in their 20s. The majority of the charges date back to 2014, including seven counts of sexually penetrating a child over 13 and under 16, four counts of procuring a child over 13 and under 16 to engage in sexual behaviour and one count of (being) a person who persistently engages in sexual conduct with a child under the age of 16 years. Other 2014 charges included six counts of (committing an) indecent act with intent to insult or offend any person and one count of unlawful and indecent assault. Edis also faced four counts of (committing an) indecent act with intent to insult or offend any person, two dated from 2017 and two from 2019. No magistrate was present and the Justice of the Peace adjourned the matter for legal advice until April 30 in Bunbury Magistrate’s Court.
