The Shire of Exmouth has closed Town Beach and McLeod beach after a two-metre long crocodile was sighted in the Exmouth Marina.

The shire said they had a confirmed sighting of the crocodile on Thursday morning and were working with Parks and Wildlife Service rangers to patrol the area.

The shire are urging the community to stay well away from the water edge.

“Saltwater crocodiles are elusive creatures and can move up to 20km in a day,” the shire said.

Any sightings should be reported to the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions Parks and Wildlife Service in Exmouth on (08) 9947 8000
