The Freemasons have celebrated the formation of a new Mid West district, with its leader installed in a ceremony last weekend.

Members of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry from across the State gathered in Geraldton to celebrate the formation of the District of Midwest and the installation of its leader Carl Reynolds.

Mr Reynolds said it was a privilege to be chosen.

“It’s a great honour to be selected to lead the new district and to grow the order in the Mid West,” he said.

“I now look forward to a bright future as district commander and all the challenges and opportunities that come with the role”.

In a ceremony at the Geraldton Masonic Lodge, regional commander for Western Australia Graeme Cucel attended as part of formal proceedings. He said the creation of a new district reflected demand in the region.

“The new district was created in recognition of the growth of Freemasonry in the Mid West and the impending growth this will create into this and other orders of Freemasonry,” he said.

“A strong system of craft lodges allows the whole masonic family to grow”.

Meanwhile, Dean McArthur was installed to regional recorder at the same ceremony.
