DPIRD issues shark advice for whale stranding at Whalebone Point, east of Bremer Bay
A shark advice has been issued for a south coast beach after a whale was stranded east of Bremer Bay on Friday morning.
The whale is stranded at Whalebone Point in the Shire of Jerramungup, 14 km east of Bremer Bay.
The stranding was first reported at 9.50am by Parks and Wildlife Service officers from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development issued the advice on Friday, warning people in the area to be wary of any increased presence of sharks.
The advice advises people to take additional caution of sharks, saying the whale may act as an attractant.
Officers from DPIRD and DBCA are monitoring the stranding.
Shark sightings can be reported to Water Police on 9442 8600.
