The Katanning Show brought fun for all with rides, markets, carnival games, and champion shearers. Markets and art displays from local and neighbouring shires transformed Katanning Leisure and Function Centre for the 133rd edition of the Katanning Show on October 25 and 26. Show-goers got a sneak peek on October 25 at the flower, Lego, art, and photography exhibits before Saturday’s activities saw games and inflatable rides for the youngsters while The Zipper dared thrill-seeking attendees to ride. About 200 competitors nationwide entered novice, intermediate, senior and open divisions for sport, speed, and blade shearing and wool handling rounds. Speed shearers Alexia Phillips in seniors, and Jimmy Samuels for open, achieved victory. Homegrown Zarah Squires took top spot in the novice shearers alongside South Australia’s Ben Clarke in intermediate, New South Wales’ Charlie Hall in senior and Victoria’s Josh Bone in open. New Zealand representative Tony Dobbs won the only blade-shearing division. Out-of-State wool handlers Ashlee McCoonon, Tasmania, Amy Kilpatrick, Victoria, and Alex Schoff, Queensland were successful in their divisions. Live music entertained audiences throughout the day and a vibrant firework show concluded the event.
