Nash has a knack for racing

Waroona go-kart racer Nash Ferraro has been leaving competitors in his dust with competitions across WA.

He has a passion for racing and has a collection of trophies to prove it.

The 11-year-old says he lives, eats and breaths racing.

“Mum and Dad bought me a go-kart for my sixth birthday and I remember having to wait until I could drive it because I didn’t have a training licence yet,” Nash said.

“I kept practising and practising and over time I eventually got better.

“Go-karting is something that needs a lot of concentration and consistency,” he added.

The go-kart fanatic said his cart reached speeds of up to 92kmh, however he was not afraid of the fast-paced motorsport.

He finished first in the WA State Series –South Eastern Zone Black Plate Championship last year.

He also holds the title for the WA State Karting Blue Plate Championship.

Nash said he had a great support crew, which included his grandmother, although she did not watch until the race was over.

Mr Soutar-Dawson is a renowned race engineer, he also worked as a stunt driver on the set of the new karting movie Go.

Nash’s father Peter said although the sport required a lot of travel, he was proud of his son.

“I’m proud of Nash because I’ve seen him grow and develop into a great young man.

“There is a lot of travelling with competing, we are always on the road, some tracks are nine-hour drives,” Mr Ferraro said.

The hardworking boy from Waroona said his dream was to race in Formula One some day.
