Charity long table lunch ready for community applications

South Western Times

One of the region’s biggest charity events is seeking applications from community groups and organisations for its beneficiary program.

Up to $70,000 is available for not-for-profit agencies through the Chefs’ Long Table Lunch program.

Chefs’ Long Table Lunch spokeswoman Genine Unsworth said organisations must meet set criteria and benefit people living in the South West to be eligible for a grant.

“Funds raised from the Chefs’ Long Table Lunch are a fantastic way for small or large not-for-profit organisations to develop and improve their facilities and services in the South West,” Ms Unsworth said.

This year’s major beneficiary, the Royal Flying Doctor Service Flying 1000, received $70,000 from the annual food and wine extravaganza to buy two life-saving cardiac monitors for its aircraft.

More than $30,000 was handed out to minor beneficiaries including Millbridge Lions Club, Bunbury RSL and Bethanie Fields Aged Care.

Applications for beneficiary funds close on July 5 and forms are available at www.chefslongtable.com.au.

Tickets are also available for the 2014 Chefs’ Long Table Lunch, which will be held on Sunday February 23.
