It will be an evening of pinstripe suits and pin-up girls when the South West Community Fundraisers Inc holds the 13th annual Op Shop Ball next month.

The theme of the evening will be Naughty Forties and Community Fundraisers members are already shining their shoes in anticipation.

Over the years, the popular event has raised more than $80,000 for new items at the St John of God Hospital palliative care unit including specialised mattresses, airconditioners and other equipment that provides comfort for patients.

‘‘We have a wonderful team here working together to support patients and their families,’’ St John of God Hospital director of nursing Karen Gullick said.

‘‘The items we are able to purchase with the donations from the South West Community Fundraisers Inc really do make a huge difference to people’s comfort at a time when it matters most.’’

The ball, held on September 3 at the South West Italian Club, aims to support the community while contributing to a worthwhile cause.

‘‘There will be an auction, games and raffles with some great prizes,’’ Community Fundraisers president Robbie Freia said.

The South West Community Fundraisers is a non-for-profit organisation that raises money for South West groups, people or projects in need.

Those interested in donating, buying a ticket or becoming a sponsor can call Brett Vukelic on 0404 819 597.
