Australian rock legends bring back the 80s for Oz Rock Busselton
ICONIC 1980s rockers Icehouse will headline a bumper line-up for next year’s Oz Rock Busselton concert.
The new wave band will be joined by Australian Crawl frontman James Reyne – the only return performer, plus singer-songwriter Diesel, Daddy Cool frontman Ross Wilson and pop songstress Wendy Matthews.
The Absolutely 80s supergroup — featuring Brian Mannix, Scott Carne, Paul Gray, David Sterry and Dale Ryder completes the line-up for the Australia Day long weekend.
Promoter Mick Pember from Down Under Events said they had raised the bar for the event’s second year by increasing the number of artists from five to six.
He said while this year’s Jimmy Barnes-led concert had a 1970s focus, next year would bring Busselton back to the 1980s.
“Icehouse is the big iconic band out of the 1980s. We were very happy to secure them because they don’t tour a lot, ” Pember said.
City of Busselton events coordinator Shane Walsh said they were excited to sponsor the event for the second time.
“This line-up is very strong and will sell more than last year. We’re going to do it at a larger venue to fit more people in, ” he said.
Tickets will go on sale soon from Ticketmaster and the Esplanade Hotel.
