Cottesloe units in Sea Pines building to be spruced-up for short-stay accommodation right across from beach

More prime location tourist accommodation is set to become available in Cottesloe, with beach-facing units right across from The Indiana Tearooms being converted to short-stay apartments. Up to 17 of the 26 units in the Sea Pines building, next to Amberjacks fish and chip shop and with direct views of Cottesloe’s majestic beachfront, are being spruced-up. Sea Pines Property Trust development director Debbie Whiting told Post Newspapers that agents had already been appointed to make the changes happen, with existing tenants on the move as their leases end. “They are being refurbished and the place is being cleaned up,” she said. “There is a real shortage of short-stay accommodation.” The small and admittedly dated units are described as having a combined kitchen and living space, mezzanine bed area and a balcony. They are not fancy but it is the location that will set them apart for tourists who want the beach vibe. As well as being just metres from Cottesloe’s famous sand, waves and terraced grass, the apartments are also only a block away from the Cottesloe Beach Hotel and next door to popular Italian restaurant Il Lido. It is part of an interim plan for the location as work continues on the long-term vision for Marine Parade — a complete bowl over of the site to build luxury units rising seven storeys. The application remains before the State Development Assessment Unit for future consideration, with a lot still to play out as not all owners within the complex are onboard with selling to developers.
