Regional footballers to strut their stuff
More than a half-a-dozen country footballers will get their chance to impress AFL recruiters after they were invited to this year’s State combine on October 14.
Some of the most promising football talent will be on display at the event, with seven of the 21 chosen from regional WA.
Patrick Farrant (Bunbury/Swan Districts), Tobe Watson (Donnybrook/Swan Districts), Corey Hitchcock (North Albany/Claremont), Dylan Curley (Mullewa/East Fremantle), Louis Miller (Dunsborough/East Perth), Jason Carter (Port Wyndham/Peel Thunder) and Graydon Wilson (Centrals/Swan Districts) were all revealed as invitees yesterday.
These lucky seven add to an already healthy number of potential AFL draftees from regional WA, with Sydney Stack (Federals/Perth), Tyson Smallwood (Royals/Claremont), Ian Hill (Northam Barons/Perth), Jarred Cameron (Centrals/Swan Districts), Damon Greaves (Busselton/East Perth) and Durak Tucker (Bunbury/Peel Thunder) were invited to the NAB AFL Draft Combine.
Last year Busselton’s Scott Jones was taken by the Fremantle Dockers in the draft, alongside the likes of Esperance’s Brayden Ainsworth and Geraldton’s Liam Ryan (West Coast).
The NAB AFL Draft will be a two-day event for the first time and will be held on November 22-23.
