South West Football League general manager Simone Nani is optimistic about the 2019 season which begins on Saturday, April 6.

The league’s regional venues will be showcased in round one, with no football held in Bunbury – something which Nani believes is exciting for many of the clubs.

“When the SWFL match committee produced the first draft of the fixtures with home and away games, this is how the first round was generated,” she said.

“We certainly support all the outer areas of Bunbury starting off the 2019 season.

“It is exciting for the Augusta-Margaret River, Busselton, Donnybrook, Harvey Bulls and Collie Eagles clubs to be hosting the first round in the SWFL competition.”

In addition to several big occasions sprinkled throughout the season, there will be opportunities to showcase and acknowledge the role of indigenous footballers and officials.

“Showcasing indigenous football is always a plus – given the rich history the SWFL has of producing outstanding indigenous footballers,” Nani said.

“We will always try to recognise the importance of certain games and rounds during a season.

“Collie Eagles play Carey Park in round 12 which will be the indigenous recognition game.

“Both these teams do this very well every year and it will be a great game to look forward to in the 2019 season.”
