$50k fines a Bunbury Council windfall
Bunbury City Council's bottom line has received an unexpected windfall in the form of an extra $50,000 from fines in the first three months of 2015.
According to a budget update, the council received an extra $26,000 from parking fines than was expected.
The council also received an extra $14,000 from dog registration fines, $4000 from bushfire fines and $2000 from library fines.
It wasn't all good news for the council, though, with the update revealing it had to fork out $98,000 extra in salary expenses and $97,000 in insurance premiums for worker compensation claims.
The council increased its income by more than $300,000 to almost $48 million and spent about $2 million less than budgeted to $30.6 million.
