Bunbury residents whose properties were damaged by Sunday night’s storm are only now discovering the extent of the damage.

A home in Waterwitch Street which was left with parts of its roof missing and with a patio roof on its front verge could take weeks to fix.

Home owner Mary Dee said she and her family may have to move out due to the extensive damage to ceilings in the kitchen, living rooms and bathroom.

She said her insurance company was sending someone to inspect the damage and they would move out if they were told it was too dangerous to stay.

The patio roof Miss Dee found on her front yard came from a house a street away and a dangerously unstable tree has prevented the family from going into their backyard.

Miss Dee and her partner Doug Shand had visitors from New Zealand and Mr Shand’s children staying at the property.

A car damaged by the storm was bought on Sunday and had not yet been insured.

“We’re still a bit freaked out, and Doug doesn’t want to move out because he’s worried about looters, ” she said.
