Alannah one step closer to Galaxy

Bunbury could soon add Miss Galaxy Australia to the list of successful personalities who leave the city on a quest to achieve something big.

Bunbury model, Alannah Bayliss, has advanced to the next round in her quest to be crowned with the honour.

The South Western Times last year revealed the 19-year-old was aiming to win the State final in January and she has done exactly that.

Miss Bayliss said she felt lucky and excited.

"I worked very hard for the State final and it was great to see that the hard work paid off," she said.

The win means Miss Bayliss will head to the national stage on the Gold Coast in April.

"There's is nothing more I would want than to represent my country as Miss Galaxy Australia 2016," Miss Bayliss said.

Through her quest she has smashed her target of raising $2000 for the Make a Wish Australia Foundation. She said she reached her target just before last month's final and she wanted to top it off by raising another $1000.

"This will set a new benchmark for me, as I would have raised the most over my three years of raising money for the foundation," she said.

"I was lucky enough to become a Make a Wish volunteer and I will continue to work with them throughout the year and support the charity to the best of my ability."

Miss Bayliss is also studying to be an education assistant and hopes to complete an additional needs course with a focus on studies into autism.

"I love working with children and making them have the best chance at life," she said.
