There have been many new faces at the Manjimup Police Station in the past 31 years, but one of those is not Anne Stubberfield.

Since May 27, 1985, Mrs Stubberfield has served as the customer service officer, although her role has changed and expanded over the years.

Last week, she and Manjimup officer-in-charge Sgt Harry Arnott attended a two-day conference at Preston Beach where Mrs Stubberfield received a medal and recognition of service from Assistant Commissioner Murray Smalpage.

“I love what I do, I’m a people person and I love helping the customers, they are my clients,” Mrs Stubberfield said.

“I’ve always been made to feel part of the police family, you get attached, form attachments and watch them move on.

“I have a lot of respect for these guys and gals because there’s so much they do that people don’t appreciate or realise.”

In her time, Mrs Stubberfield has seen many police officers come and go through the station.

Three of the officers she had seen arrive as constables later returned as the officers-in-charge, two of whom still live in Manjimup – Ted Taylor and Dave White . She remains good friends with them and their families.

Mrs Stubberfield was there for the station’s renovations and a bomb attack in late March 1995.

Her role has included helping with searches when there was no female police officer at the station and comforting people during times of loss.

“It can be a rollercoaster. There have been sad moments and it is hard when something sad happens,” she said.
