Bunbury archers returned to the range at the weekend ahead of a big 2016 season.

Bunbury Archery Club coach Coral Dandridge is preparing her competitors for a competitive year, which will be highlighted by the 56th Silver Leprechaun to be held in Bunbury in March.

“We have a full program ahead of us, ” Dandridge said.

Archers from across the State will come to Bunbury for the 56th Silver Leprechaun, while archers from other states and countries will shoot within a six-week period to join the contest remotely.

The event requires archers to shoot 30 arrows at 60m, 30 arrows at 50m and 30 arrows at 40m twice at a 122cm target face.

Players can compete in four divisions, in the open men’s, open women’s, men’s under-18 or women’s under-18.

Entries from other countries and states are sent in by post and compared to the Bunbury competitors to determine a winner.

Next month the Bunbury Archery Club will hold a coaching course, where they will hope to find the next generations of dead-eye shooters with a bow and arrow.

“We have some club record holders shooting at the club, ” Dandridge said.

“We are confident of a good season.

“There are some other juniors coming on as well. We should do well.”
