ArtGames? No pressure Leon ...
Painting under pressure doesn’t get any harder than The ArtGames – and Leon Hardy showed what he can do in less than an hour.
Mr Hardy competed in The ArtGames, as part of a Left After Dark event at the Whitespace Studio Gallery in Mullalyup, earlier this month.
Having to compete against a fellow artist, Mr Hardy had to create a piece in 100 minutes along the theme of – Goes With Anything.
Using his equipment of choice, spray paint, as well as other tools, Mr Hardy created his winning artwork and now goes into the 2015 Skirmish as a result.
The South West Institute of Technology art diploma student said it was the first time he had showcased his art.
“It was a really cool thing to be a part of – 100 minutes isn’t long so it really puts you on the spot,” he said.
“The competition was judged on resolution, crowd appeal and relevance to subject matter.
“It’s a scary thing to do, sometimes a piece can take months or sometimes just a day to create.”
Mr Hardy said Bunbury artist Dee Mosca had persuaded him to have a go.
