Big-hearted bikers unite for charity

A horde of motorcycle riders accompanied by the rumble of charity and a dust cloud of generosity will make its way up Bussell Highway on December 13.

Since 1993, the Bunbury Indian Harley Club has used its Bunbury Salvation Army charity ride to help the less fortunate have a better Christmas.

Bunbury Salvation Army Lieutenant Harriet Farquhar said the ride made a difference to the lives of children over Christmas.

“It provides a way for children who may not be able to receive presents at Christmas time to get them,” she said.

Starting at the Capel fairground at 9am, the ride will finish at the car park opposite Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre at 11am.

Club machine examiner Ray Buck said he expected about 400 riders on a diverse range of bikes.

“All bikes are welcome,” he said.

“We even get a few joining up with mopeds at Dalyellup.”

Club secretary Faye Carn said the goal went beyond dollars alone.

“As well as money we need non-perishable goods,” she said.

“Every year there is more and more demand.”
