South West Police believe a body recovered from the Back Beach this afternoon could be that of a Bunbury woman who was reported missing this morning.

About 1.20pm Bunbury Sea Rescue crew and police officers pulled a woman’s body from the ocean, an estimated 2.8km off Bunbury’s Back Beach.

South West Police officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Ron Patchett said a 50-year-old Bunbury woman was reported missing by her husband about 5.40 this morning.

“We have been looking all day for her and from an initial identification, it looks as though it could be her,” Sen. Sgt Patchett said.

He said the woman’s husband told police she suffered depression.

Bunbury Sea Rescue commander Albert Fullarton said sea rescue officers received a call at about 12pm from Busselton Sea Rescue about the incident.

“A gentleman who was fishing out in the water found the body floating and called police,” he said.

Detectives, forensic officers and police are still investigating.
