Australind police are this morning investigating an incident where a car was stolen in “rare” circumstances, according to officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Mark Smith.

Between 7.30am and 8.15am a white Nissan Navara ute, with number plates RCS1637, was stolen from the Leschenault Leisure Centre carpark.

Sen. Sgt Smith said the keys to the vehicle were stolen from the changerooms while the owner was swimming in the centre’s pool.

He said the crime was a “very rare incident” because of its brazen nature.

Police are reviewing closed-circuit TV footage from the centre.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
