Brownies' biscuit fundraiser

South Western Times

In a long-honoured tradition the Second Bunbury Brownie Guides are selling Girl Guide biscuits to raise funds for camps and activities and this year, five cents from every sale will go to the Leukemia Foundation’s Light the Night appeal.

The Brownies will be selling the biscuits at the Bunbury Forum until Saturday and Guide Leader Barbara Fleay said donations to Light the Night were also welcome.

‘‘The girls have a team for the Light the Night walk from Bicentennial Square next month and any support is appreciated,’’ Mrs Fleay said.

‘‘All donations will go to the sponsorship of their walk.’’

The girls took their community spirit to Perth on the weekend where they participated in Radio Lollipop at Princess Margaret Hospital.

‘‘They manned the radio station and did arts and crafts with the patients,’’ Mrs Fleay said.

‘‘The girls like helping their community and they are very good at it.’’

The girls now have their sights on raising funds to travel to a jamboree in Tasmania in 2013.

‘‘As young girls they don’t have much money and our funding is only so much, but the little money they raise goes a long way,’’ Mrs Fleay said.

‘‘I hope that they enjoy their volunteering and continue to volunteer when they are older.’’

The Second Bunbury Brownie Guides can be found selling biscuits near the Post Office at the Bunbury Forum.
