Bulldogs win right to host final re-match

Bunbury will host this Sunday’s elimination final against the Harvey Bulls, after prevailing in the battle for fourth spot at the Harvey Recreation Ground on Sunday.

A six-goal to one third term burst set-up Bunbury's 37-point victory against Harvey and ensured the rights to a home final.

The Bulldogs' speed and youthful exuberance proved too strong throughout the encounter, as the side claimed the 12.6 (78) to 6.5 (41) win.

Bunbury entered the match without captain Codey Hay (knee) and key defender Kane Bumann (arm).

Bunbury forward Matt Martin also left the field with a knee complaint in the opening stages of the first quarter.

Despite the two major outs and early injury, the Bulldogs were unfazed and went on to claim a dominant win in torrid conditions.

Harry Creasey was Bunbury's most influential player, with Harvey struggling to find a suitable match-up for the young midfielder.

Creasey won plenty of the football throughout the midfield and rarely wasted the ball.

Fellow youngsters Connor Walker and Tobi Horton were also among Bunbury's best, providing plenty of spark through the midfield.

The Bulls trailed by seven points at the extended break and looked to have the momentum leading into the second half.

However, Hayward Medal fancy Travis Gray squashed Harvey's chance of a redemption when he booted two quick goals in the first five minutes of the third term.

Gray's multiple majors brought the game back into Bunbury's favour, with the Bulldogs blowing the game out of the Bulls' reach.

Harvey defender Brett Lofthouse was one of the home side's best, using his size to intercept many of Bunbury's forward entries.

Bulls midfielder Michael Genovese and co-captain Josh Krispyn were also lively throughout, but there was not enough help.
