The Harvey Bulls began their 2016 SWFL campaign with a comprehensive 46 point victory over the Eaton Boomers today at the Harvey Recreation Ground.

With just three points between the two sides for the first two breaks, the game looked to be an even contest.

But a six goal to none third quarter by the Bulls gave them the ascendency and powered them to a great 14.11 (95) to 7.7 (49) victory.

Debutant Darcy Boyle kicked five goals in a powerful showing up forward and his battle with Boomers captain Will Oelsnik was something to behold.

Oelsnik kept his side in the game during a dominant patch in the first quarter by the Harvey Bulls, repelling the forward thrusts of the home side with ease.

But three second-quarter goals to Boyle helped the Bulls to a fantastic victory.

Brayden Mann returned to his old side in fine form, with Michael Genovese, Josh Krispyn and fellow debutants Isaac Baum and Reece Blechynden also impressing.

For the Boomers it was their young brigade who showed plenty of promise, with Sam Harris, Tyler Patterson and Josh Rosel standing out.

In Margaret River it was there was the upset of the round with the Collie Eagles defeating Augusta-Margaret River by five points.

The Eagles dominated the first quarter, but failed to put it on the scoreboard.

Midway through the last quarter the Hawks got in front but former Augusta-Margaret River player Jake Rodgers kicked the winning goal for the Eagles.

The Eagles got over the line in the tight contest, with the visitors coming up with the 7.11 (53) to 7.6 (48).

While in Donnybrook the home side survived a scare against reigning premiers Busselton to record a 31 point win.

The Dons were poor with disposal in the first half, costing them many moves forward, while Busselton worked well with what they had.

But after the main break, Simon Parry (five goals) was brought onto the ball with ruckman Jeff Smith to lead the Dons to a 18.16 (124) to 14.9 (93).
