Bulls moved into equal first place on the Bunbury Basketball Association A Grade ladder after a 76-65 victory over Tornadoes Black on Tuesday night – their fourth straight triumph.

Black came out of the blocks to grab an early lead, thanks to Nat van Dijk who scored his team’s first 15 points, of the match which included including four three-pointers.

Bulls were pushing the ball inside to their big men Trent Worthington and returning star Daniel Lewis, which sent Black forward Jason Smith to the bench early with foul trouble.

Worthington (23 points) and Lewis (20 points) were the standouts for Bulls, while van Dijk was the only player in double figures for Black with 27 points.

Aces Navy got back on the winners’ list with an impressive 70-60 win over Tornadoes Red.

Navy took control in the first half but some accurate shooting by Red guard Carey Watkins kept his team in touch.

Navy held on for the win with Wade Hitchcock (16 points) and Luke Deighton (14 points) the stand outs, while Watkins top scored for Red with 11 points.

Aces White survived an early scare to thrash Tornadoes Grey 78-40. Grey looked like a chance to cause a boilover and notch their first game of the season before succumbing to a after only trailing by four points at the half, but Chris Douglas (20 points) and Sam Fotu (14 points) put the Aces squad on their shoulders and stunned Grey with a 54-20 second half.

In women’s games, Tornadoes Black defeated Aces 80-44 with Kirsty Larsen scoring 28 points for Black, while Kirsty Bock’s 13 points was Aces top scorer. Bulls defeated Tornadoes Red 33-25.
