Bulls’ start to season as good as gold

Bulls Gold is the only undefeated team in the Dale Alcock Homes Bunbury Basketball Association’s men’s A-Grade competition after a dominant 135-73 victory over an undermanned Aces Navy at the South West Sports Centre on Friday night.

Gold had an even scoring spread in their 62-point win, with Brynn Francis scoring 29 points, Tre Nichols 27, Teny Puot 26 and Clive Weeden and Travis Durnin scoring 24 apiece.

Navy was led by Daniel Woods who scored 20 points, while Clayton Dickinson added 18.

Tornadoes Black handed an undermanned Bulls Maroon team their first loss of the season in a handy 94-66 win, with Jason Smith scoring a game-high 26 points.

Nathan van Dijk added 24 points and Lucas Goff put up 17 for the winners, James Goodlad (21) and Michael Gliddon (14) led the way for Maroon.

Aces White won their second game of the season with a 79-66 victory against Tornadoes Red.

Teenage duo Matt Germs and Brody England scoring 22 points each for the winners.

Veteran Aaron Edwards added 12 points for White, while Bree Dudek and Jay Walton scored 12 each for Red.

Busselton kept Tornadoes Grey winless with a 76-59 win, with Beau Chinnery scoring a game-high 19 points for the winning team.

Travis Vogel chipped in 14 points for Busselton, while Brandon Bennell (18) and Tyrone Winder (13) were the best for Grey.

In the women’s competition, the Bulls defeated Aces Navy 96-50 to stay undefeated for the season.

Courtney Bayliss had a fantastic debut for the winners, scoring 34, which included 10 makes from beyond the arc.

Georgia Denehey added 22 to go alongside Bayliss, while playing-coach Kate Fielding was Navy’s best with 19 points.

Tornadoes also kept their undefeated season intact with a 68-55 win over Aces White.

Ebony Bilcich (22 points), Dena English (20) and Tayah Burrows (18) were the main contributors for Tornadoes, while Tiahna Sears scored 18 points for White.
