Bunbury cars stolen, torched
Police say there is no evidence of a link between two stolen cars that were torched and dumped near the Bunbury Cemetery within less than 24 hours.
A beige 2008 Hyundai Elantra was stolen from a home in Usher at 7am Monday and it is believed it was driven around the city before being dumped and torched on Forrest Avenue.
Firefighters put out the burning car at about 9.30am.
The second car, a Holden Commodore, was stolen from Carey Park and found burning at Charterhouse Street at 3am on Tuesday.
Bunbury Detectives are investigating the incidents but say there is no connection between the car fires.
However, the area near the cemetery has been used in the past as a dumping spot for stolen cars.
The latest thefts are on top of another car stolen from Bunbury, it too dumped and set alight.
Bunbury Catholic priest Father Wayne Bendotti’s car was taken after he was attacked during a home burglary.
After the attack, which left Fr Bendotti with a broken jaw, the offender stole the priest’s car.
It was later found torched and dumped on Harewoods Road, Dalyellup.
