A new sign at the Bunbury Taxi rank will act as a “visual reminder” to people to help reduce abusive and anti-social behaviour, according to Bunbury MLA John Castrilli.

As part of the Choose Respect initiative adopted by the Bunbury Alcohol Accord and local taxi drivers, the sign carries a message to community members to “Choose Respect” and “stop and think before you act”.

Police Minister Liza Harvey, Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan and Mr Castrilli – a Choose Respect supporter – unveiled the sign at the Symmons Street taxi rank this morning.

Mr Castrilli said the sign reminded people that their actions had consequences on themselves and others.

“It’s a very visual way of reminding people at the taxi rank to think about their behaviour, respect for themselves and others, and the choices they make,” he said.

The sign is a joint project between Bunbury Respect Incorporated, Bunbury City Council and Bunbury taxi drivers.
