Bunbury's Denning Boxing Gym’s two prime boxers have continued their terrific 2014 with Nathaniel “Cheeky” May and Daniel “Danger” McGlashan having wins at Friday night’s Western Alliance 15 Fight Night.

May dropped to the featherweight division to take on Indonesian boxer Patomsith Pathompothong, where he completed a unanimous decision win over eight rounds.

Trainer Peter Stokes said May continuously hit the Indonesian, but failed to drop one of the top fighters from the neighbouring country.

“Nathaniel was too powerful and too strong," he said.

“This guy was a southpaw and Nathaniel hit him with everything and he didn’t drop.

“He was picking him off and working a lot more tightly on his left angle.”

McGlashan had a much quicker night after dropping former world number 15 Samoan boxer Walter Papua twice in the first and second rounds before the match was stopped and the Bunbury fighter was awarded the fight by TKO.

“He had a lot more power, his speed and work rate was all up,” Stokes said.

“We have increased his power and brought his weight up a bit, he was just too strong and too powerful.

“They were great, they’re both fighting at a great standard. Nathaniel is fighting overseas next year and McGlashan is set to take Australia by storm.”
