Bunbury house gutted by fire
A man accused of lighting a fire which gutted an East Bunbury home yesterday will face the allegations in the Supreme Court.
Anthony Paul Hume, 22, also from East Bunbury, appeared briefly in Bunbury Magistrates Court this morning but was not required to enter any pleas.
South West Detectives arrested Mr Hume yesterday following an investigation into a house fire on Bickerton Place about 12.40pm.
Police attended the fire yesterday and received reports of a man acting suspiciously nearby, but the man had left the scene.
Detectives arrested Mr Hume yesterday afternoon and charged him with criminal damage by fire.
Mr Hume was also charged with one count of possessing cannabis, after police allege they found him with the prohibited drug yesterday.
Appearing in court this morning, Mr Hume told Magistrate Mark Millington “I didn’t do nothing” and held up his arm which was in a cast.
Magistrate Millington told Mr Hume due to the seriousness of the charges, the matter would need to proceed in the Stirling Gardens Supreme Court.
Mr Hume made no application for bail and the matters were adjourned for legal advice until July 20.
Police also arrested a 16-year-old boy as part of the investigation into the blaze, but his charges do not relate to the fire.
