A Bunbury man has been charged following an investigation into a car crash which happened in January this year.

Major Crash officers charged the 58-year-old man in relation to a crash on Forrest Highway in West Pinjarra on January 27.

The two-car collision about 10am caused the closure of the highway for a short period.

Police say a Holden Commodore and Ford Festiva collided on the highway near Greenlands Road.

A 31-year-old man who was a passenger in the Festiva received serious injuries and was taken to Peel Health Campus before being transferred to Royal Perth Hospital.

The charged man along with his 54-year-old passenger received minor injuries and were taken to Peel Health Campus.

The man has been charged with one count of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in Bunbury Magistrates Court on June 27.
