Bunbury to get the BOOM

HAYLEY DAVISSouth Western Times

Boom! Bap! Pow!’s upcoming concert at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre will be a bittersweet gig for the band, as they say goodbye to their bass player, song writer and co-founder Clint Bracknell.

But they will farewell him in style at the new BREC Cube theatre as part of the grand opening launch party ‘Out of the Box and Into the Cube’.

“We got word through that they were promoting the entertainment centre and that they wanted a band like us so we thought ‘why not get in there before we lose our bass player to Sydney?’” Bull said.

They are in the process of looking for someone to join their energetic, ‘doo-wop’ soul outfit.

“It is really difficult in Perth - you kind of know everybody or they play in 20 other bands, ” Bull said.

“I suppose we’re looking for someone that is driven, who is generous with their time and their song writing skills, who just plays with heart and soul and groove is pretty much all we can ask for.

“There isn’t any other Clint in the world.”

Though initially sad to see Clint leave, Bull is optimistic about the opportunity for change.

“He is an integral part of the band and a co-founder so we were a bit mixed at first, ” she said.

“It is quite exciting as well though, the sounds may change somewhat — it’s terrifying but we’re all pretty excited.”

Boom! Bap! Pow! will perform at BREC on July 11 alongside Abbe May and DJs including DJ Jezahh and aerial performers.
