Bushwalker uncovers Capel 'clan lab'

ERIENNE LETTESouth Western Times

Items used to manufacture an illegal drug were uncovered in Capel bushland yesterday by a resident who was out for his daily bushwalk.

Police received a call from the man about 1.45pm after he came across a number of items he believed were used to manufacture drugs in bushland off Goodwood Road.

The Organised Crime Squad travelled from Perth to investigate the scene with local police and forensics and found the items were similar to those used to manufacture methamphetamine.

The squad seized a number of items that are now being examined by forensics.

A police spokesman said one of the items had been left in a way that could have harmed the bushwalker.

``This one was different to others where an item was left in a way that could have seriously harmed the bushwalker if he had touched it and could have certainly harmed the user,'' he said.

``People are reminded that if they find anything to not touch it and call police.''

Police have urged anyone with information about the lab or who may have seen anything in the area earlier this week to call Crime Stoppers.
