Campers burned in prank

South Western Times

Two people escaped a tent fire with minor burns after what police are calling a “prank gone wrong” last Friday night.

Australind acting officer-incharge Sgt Craig Cowcill said the Perth couple burnt their hands and feet trying to put out the tent fire when camping at a Myalup caravan park.

“A 16-year-old Perth boy has been charged with acts likely to harm/ injure after he allegedly threw a sparkler bomb in the tent as a practical joke,” Sgt Cowcill said.

There were three 16-year-olds in the tent when the fire started about 11.30pm.

The accused has been released on bail and will appear in court next month.
