Six blank walls in Bunbury’s CBD are being transformed into distinctive murals as part of the Re.Discover project.

The street art project, spearheaded by Bunbury man Andrew Frazer, kicked off yesterday and aims to draw more foot traffic into the city’s centre.

Joining Mr Frazer are West Australian artists Stormie Mills, Kyle Hughes-Odgers, Anya Brock, Jodee Knowles and Bunbury tattooist Tim Howe.

All six artists have distinctive styles — from Mills’ pensive characters to Brock’s brightly coloured budgies — set to revamp some of the CBD’s walls and alleyways.

Mr Frazer wants Bunbury’s CBD to develop a reputation as a destination rather than a transit location and strengthen the city’s identity.

People are encouraged to take a 45 minute walk of the CBD streets to view the artworks, helping to “activate the heart of the city”.

Re.Discover maps will be available from various supporting CBD businesses, outlining the mural locations and profiling the artists.

The artists are due to finish their murals tomorrow and will celebrate the end of three days of painting with a group exhibition from 6pm at Bunbury Regional Art Galleries on Saturday, where the public can meet the artists.
