Centrepoint the home of Telethon
The countdown is on for this year’s Telethon with Bunbury Centrepoint set to be the home for the biggest fundraising event in the South West.
Centrepoint marketing executive Diana Ashworth said they were excited to be hosting the event.
“It’s going to be a similar carnival theme, so outside we’ll have a sideshow alley with bouncy castles, go-carts, a climbing wall and sausage sizzle and inside we’ll have show bags, balloon twisting and fairy floss,” she said.
“The stage will be a bit different from previous years because we’re going to have more entertainment and we’ve got Top Jazz Ballet coming to do performances.”
The Telethon Carnival Day will be held on Sunday, October 16, from 10am to 4pm to avoid clashing with other events in the South West as it has done in previous years.
“We’ll still have the live auction of the limousin on stage but we do have an online auction this year via our Facebook page,” Ms Ashworth said.
“People can bid on things like footy jerseys and lots of vouchers from the centre’s stores – some of the things we’ve had donated are worth over $400 and every bid starts at one dollar, so you can get some great things.”
Scitech, Doopa Dog, Bunbury Batman and Channel 7 celebrities will be appearing throughout the day with all activities available for a donation between $2 with $5 and all proceeds going to Telethon.
Volunteers are also wanted for the Telethon Carnival Day with registration forms available by contacting marketing@bunbury centrepoint.com.au or visiting centre management.
